A rainy but nice day in The Hague

I just came home from a shopping round downtown with my new roomie (!!) watching the rain come down outside. It's been really nice weather the whole week and I've spent everyday at the beach until today. Anyway, the apartment is finally finished and I just need to put up a shelf and a mirror in my room and then it's done. I know I've said it so many times already, but I really love this place and I'm so happy we got it! Now me and my roomie have ordered some food and are just waiting for it to get delivered. What a nice life we have here!

Welcome, sun!

Summer has finally come to NL and even though were still quite busy with stuff to do in the apartment, we're hanging out at the beach everyday. I just love The Hague when the weather is this nice! Yesterday we went to the beach in Westduin Park and on my way home we biked through the park, which is huge and so beautiful!

Someday soon I have to go to the stadsdeelkantoor and register to my new address, but I keep forgetting. I sleep every night in the new apartment now, and even though I have a street light just outside my window I sleep very well in my new home. It's really a perfect apartment for me and my friend.

Some pictures...

I've finally dragged myself to transfer all the pictures of the apartment from the phone to my laptop, so here are some peaks of what it looks like. Today I've found a fridge at Markplaats.nl (great site for buying second hand stuff) and I'm gonna bike over to the new apartment soon to meet up with the seller. My days now basically consist of doing different things for the apartment or preparing to move. This morning I took apart my Ikea sofa, for example.

It feels quite weird that most of my stuff are in the new apartment now, but I still have to sleep in the old one since we don't have gas and electricity there yet. My old room is now almost completely empty and all my housemates are away so it feels quite lonely here actually. I really can't wait until I can start sleeping at the new place instead.

Just keep moving

Here in Holland it seems to never stop raining and you constantly forget that it is (or should be) the middle of the summer now. I've started moving my stuff to the new apartment now after we've fixed basically everything that needed to be fixed. It's really such a nice apartment and I am completely in love with it! Who would've ever thought I would be so lucky to live with one of my best friends in a dream apartment? I can't wait to move in for real now!

Ikea - Check!

Yesterday we spent 7 hours (yes, seven hours!) at Ikea in Delft to buy furniture for our new apartment. I came home completely exhausted and my previous love for Ikea was replaced by a bitter promise; never, ever, again. The great enthusiasm slowly declined as the hours passed by in the store, as it does every time I'm there.

Anyway, now it's done and today it all got delivered and now the place looks like a total mess with boxes and stuff everywhere. It feels really exciting though, that this is going to be our place where I will live for (hopefully) the next two years. I think it will look really nice when we're done with the decoration!

New apartment!

I guess the blog will not be as frequently updated this summer as during the school year. I will try to keep you up to date about my moving to another apartment though. As I have said before, me and my friend have found an apartment in the same building as she's living in now. I'm going to live in Rustenburgkwartier (I think) which is a quite safe neighborhood that is close to where I live now. Today we were in the apartment to measure the rooms and in lack of a measure tape, my friend got down on the floor and used herself as a one. It worked quite well actually.

Tomorrow we're going to Ikea and oh my, how expensive it's going to be! I didn't know moving to a brand new apartment could ever be so expensive and we need to buy basically everything. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to start decorating the apartment so a trip to Ikea feels like a lot of fun (until I have to pay for it, that is).

I'll show some pictures when it's ready!

Tomorrow: Back to The Hague

Today is the last whole day in Sweden and tomorrow I'm going back. For some reason, they've changed our flight tickets so that we (me and my friend) have to make a short stop in Copenhagen. It's really unnecessary since it only takes about 1 h 40 min to fly from Stockholm to Amsterdam.

Anyway, I'm so excited to see the new apartment where me and my friend will live! We've had it since the 1st of July, but because I was here at that time I have to sign the contract as soon as I get back now. I can't wait!

Stockholm in my heart

Sorry for the poor updating, but I decided to take some days off when I went to Stockholm so I didn't bring my laptop with me. These last few days I've been out with my sister, chilling and reading in the sun, gone shopping, viewed an apartment for a friend of mine, studied German, and been to the amusement park. I just love Stockholm, especially in the summer. I'm so lucky to have my sister and my dad living there so I always have a place to stay in this wonderful city.

Tomorrow I'm going to meet up with a friend that I haven't seen in a very long time, and I'm really looking forward to it! I'm going back to The Hague on Sunday with a friend from here, and now I'm really trying to book the days full to get as much as possible out of them.

Here are some pictures from the past days:
